Hi Everyone,
I know all of the software apps communicates through the serial port or with an adapter using the usb. But what I want to learn is the technical end of this as far as what is sent from the timer, how to reset the timer from the software end, etc. I'm a software developer and have access to the serial port with it. I just want to learn the insides of this.
Does anyone know this information? I'm not sure the people who makes the timers will share this although I have sent an email to a couple. And I have the timer from MicroWizard to test with.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Re: How software communicates with timers?
I'm certain someone more qualified will answer, but it's my understanding they all use ASCII characters sent through terminal emulation.

Thanks, I got it all figured out. I'm going to write my own racing management software that is compatible with the major timers.
